I managed to make it to Usenix 2000. I mainly went for the social aspects of meeting FreeBSD users, and also to see what is going on with the other *BSD's and the rest of the unix world. Here is what I did.

Today is the first day of Usenix. I managed to get early enough to avoid most of the crowd for registration. I went to the terminal room to see if some of the people that I knew who were going to be there. I quickly found out that Matthew Hunt and Robert Watson were also in the room with me. We identified ourselves through IRC and meet for the keynote speech by Bill Joy.
The technical sessions that I went to were interesting, but I need sleep before I talk about those.
I managed to meet up with a number of the other FreeBSD developers for lunch after the first technical session. I'm trying to get to sleep, so I'll put a list of who's who once I get the time. The people in the photo from left to right, back to front are Kris Kennaway, Arjan de Vet, Greg Lehey, Robert Watson, Greg Sutter, John-Mark Gurney, Matt Hunt, Ollivier Robert, Jonathan Bresler, Guido van Rooij and Paul Saab.
Well, I really need to get to sleep, and I also have to get ready for my WIP presentation tomorrow, so I'll write more when I get the change to.

When we were coming back from lunch, we noticed a interesting sign that talks about T-shirt vendors that are in the area. Ah, what some places will put up.
I gave a talk on Kernel Queues. The talk went well. It is hard to convey all the information that you would like to in only five minutes. I did manage to get all the points across.
In the evening, there was a big reception for all the attendees of Usenix. There was plenty of alcohol in addition to clowns. The clowns painted faces (such as Guido's to the right) and made balloon hats such as the one made for Matt Hunt.
After the reception there was a BSDi reception that many of the *BSD people went to. During the reception, I also saw another cool painting worn by James FitzGibbon on his arm.
Ack, I really should get doing other stuff, I'll finish this up Monday and hope I remember everything.
